Rennsport – a new simracing challenger arrives

Rennsport is the new sim racing game announced for a launch in 2023. Developed by the youngsters of Competition company, in Germany. After the announcement of the game and the first demonstration events, it is clear that Rennsport wants to position itself as a direct competitor to the big names in the simracing market, iRacing and Assetto Corsa in mind.

Next-gen technology

The team promises stunning graphics. We are tempted to believe them at the sight of the first images. The game will run on Unreal Engine 5, Epic’s brand new graphics engine. This promises next-gen graphics and top-notch performance. Rennsport will be the first simracing game to benefit from this.
Support for VR, triple screens and ranked multiplayer are also on the agenda.

An innovative business model full of promises

Against all odds, the game will be free to play! Anyone can play it without spending any money. However, adding additional cars and tracks to your virtual garage will be chargeable. The team also clarified that the system for owning additional elements (cars, circuits and others) will be based on an innovative system. The development team clarified that the game would not be based on NFTs. However, blockchain technology could be used.
This economic model is currently similar to RaceRoom, where everyone can play for free, but with limited content before having to checkout.

What content to compete with the big names?

For the moment, only 3 cars have been made official. The Porsche GT3-R, the BMW M4 GT3, and the Porsche Mission R. The developers clarified that the game will have many different categories of cars and therefore will not be limited to GTs.The release of the title is scheduled for 2023. A closed beta will be held in 2022. This will be an opportunity to check if the gameplay is of good quality, and if it really leans towards pure and hard simulation!
